Most holiday lets stop at 28 nights. We don't. If you're relocating, on a work placement, or caught between houses, we have properties set up for longer stays across Cumbria and the Lake District.
Ask most holiday let owners for a six week booking and you'll get a polite no. Ask for three months and you'll get silence.
There are real reasons for that, and they're to do with how a longer stay is treated under mortgage terms, insurance and tenancy law. It isn't that owners are being difficult. It's that most are not set up for it and would rather not find out the hard way.
We are set up for it. We already run extended bookings across the portfolio, the paperwork is straightforward, and we handle it properly rather than pretending the issue doesn't exist.
Sellafield, offshore, construction, healthcare locums, engineering projects. A house with a kitchen, a washing machine and a door you can close beats a Travelodge for the fourth month running, and usually costs your employer less.
Sales fall through. Renovations overrun. Jobs start before the house is ready. You need somewhere real to live in the meantime, with your things and often your dog, and you need it without signing a twelve month tenancy.
These are the ones we most often place longer stays in. If none suit, ask anyway. Most of our portfolio can take a longer booking with notice.
